A care home resident has finally hit the road at the grand age of 93.
Cicely Garbett fulfilled a lifelong dream when she got behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta for her very first driving lesson.
The pensioner had always regretted never learning.

But after telling activities co-ordinator Kate Lockwood at her care home of her wish, Kate set it up with local instructor Karen Bevan.
She kindly offered her services for free, as reported by What’s The Jam.
A delighted Cicely said afterwards: “I said I’d never driven and didn’t think I ever could.
“Kate asked if I’d like to try – I couldn’t believe it.
“I felt elated.

“I couldn’t believe I’d ever do it at my age.
“Turning the wheel made me feel like I can still do things.”
She lives at Westmead Residential Care Home in Droitwich, West Mids.

She added: “Karen was so lovely – she made me feel confident and gave me my independence.
“I can’t thank her enough.
“I’ve done something just for me. If you feel confident and want to achieve something, give it a try.
“It will feel great.”
Kate said: “At Westmead we are passionate about finding ways to continually enrich the lives of our residents with moments like these, helping them live life to the full and achieve their goals.”
