Nigella Lawson likes to put sherry and vodka in her Christmas pudding.
The traditional festive dessert typically has brandy poured over it before it is lit.
But the booze-loving TV cook queen puts 175 millilitres of Pedro Ximenez sherry – 18% in with the other ingredients.

And then she pours 125 millilitres of vodka – usually 37.5% – over it when done to flame it.
The pud contains 300 millilitres of spirit that works out as 12 standard 25 millimetre shots.
Her version only serves as few as eight people, one-and-a-half shots per person.
She also uses classic currants, sultanas, sugar, eggs and flour to make it.
Nigella, 65, boasted about her version as Brits are urged to make their Christmas puds so they mature in time for the yuletide.

She said: “This has come round fast.
“Yes, it’s Stir-Up Sunday, and so, as tradition decrees, my Ultimate Christmas Pudding is Recipe of the Day.
“I have converted many a longstanding Christmas pudding hater with this, which is due not to any spellbinding brilliance on my part.

“But to the deep, treacly magnificence of the Pedro Ximénez sherry in which the dried fruit is steeped.”
She lists “175 millilitres Pedro Ximenez sherry” and “125 millilitres vodka to flame the pudding” among the 16 ingredients, as reported on What’s The Jam.
Sainsbury’s sells a 50cl bottle of 12-year-old sweet Pedro Ximenez sherry for £10.25.
The supermarket has one litre of Smirnoff Red Label vodka for £24.75.
Fans seemed to love the recipe.

It is not the first time Nigella has added extra booze to her dishes.
Two months ago, she said she liked to marinate rump steak in vodka.
In 2023, she said she likes to put the spirit into her sausages.
Nigella is renowned for wacky meals like caramel on potatoes and Marmite on spaghetti.
Three years ago, she caused a stir by calling a ‘microwave’ a ‘mee-cro-wah-vay.’
