Lovestruck lifeboat crew members were given the perfect send-off after colleagues formed a surprise wedding guard of honour using oars and the RNLI’s famous yellow wellies.
Amber and Alex Richardson had just tied the knot on a clifftop in Cornwall when 10 fellow crewmates emerged to spring a secret wedding surprise.
As the ceremony ended and the couple turned to soak up the applause from family and friends, they were greeted by an archway formed from gig boat oars decorated with the charity’s iconic yellow wellies.

The touching moment took place at Millendreath, Cornwall.
Amber and Alex are both members of the Looe lifeboat crew, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Amber said: “I caught a glimpse of a yellow welly on what appeared to be a pole in the air and then a red jacket before realising what was going on.
“I don’t know how the crew were able to keep this a secret until the very last minute.”
The couple are both keen sailors with Looe Sailing Club and joined Looe RNLI at around the same time.

Amber’s father, Clive Palfrey, who serves as the station’s lifeboat operations manager, said he was proud to watch the crew march down and form the surprise archway.

He added that it made for a memorable Father’s Day weekend.
Ian Foster, from the lifeboat station, said the crew were delighted to play a small part in the couple’s special day.

He said: “Yellow wellies are synonymous with the RNLI.
“The iconic yellow welly forms part of the crew’s safety equipment for both our shore crew and boat crew with their drysuits.”
He said the yellow welly symbolised bravery, safety and the charity’s mission at sea.
