McDonald’s is quietly axing one of its most popular money-saving deals after 15 years – and fans are not happy.

The fast food giant is removing its famous Wrap of the Day promotion from restaurant menus next month and shifting the offer exclusively onto its app.

The deal, which has been a staple of McDonald’s value menu since 2011, currently allows customers to buy a rotating daily wrap for just £2.49.

But from July 14, diners will no longer be able to order the discounted wraps at kiosks or tills.

Instead, customers will have to redeem the offer through the McDonald’s app under a new promotion called “Get Any Wrap in the App”.

While the price will remain £2.49, shoppers will need to place their order through the app before collecting it in-store or having it delivered.

Anyone ordering via kiosks will have to pay the standard menu price, which ranges from £4.49 to £5.79, as reported b Whats The Jam.

The move has sparked anger among customers online, with many taking to social media to vent their frustration.

On a thread discussing the change on Reddit’s r/McDonaldsUK forum, one user wrote: “BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT.”

Another person fumed: “Well it was the only reason I went to McDonald’s so……”

Someone else lamented: “THEY’RE REMOVING WRAP OF THE DAY??? no way.. I miss when it was £1.99.”

Many customers said they were disappointed that a long-running value offer was effectively being removed from restaurant menus.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “From July 14, our new ‘Get Any Wrap in the App’ offer will enable customers to redeem any wrap for £2.49, any day of the week, on the McDonald’s App.

“We regularly review the ways we can improve our value offers and moving this new deal onto the app means customers will have more flexibility to choose their favourite wrap on any day they’d like it.”

Rather than being restricted to a specific wrap depending on the day of the week, customers will now be able to choose any wrap they want for £2.49 through the app.

The offer will be available between 11am and 11pm each day, although customers can only redeem it once per day.

The Wrap of the Day shake-up comes just weeks after McDonald’s confirmed major changes to its popular Food for Thoughts survey promotion.

The scheme has long been regarded by regular customers as one of the cheapest ways to get a discounted meal after completing a feedback survey.

However, reports shared by customers online suggested the offer was changing from May.

Previously, many diners used the receipt survey to unlock a burger-and-fries meal for £2.99.

Under the new format, customers completing the survey receive a free medium fries, cheeseburger, Oreo McFlurry or Smarties McFlurry when spending £5.
