An ‘alpha male’ reindeer has lost his antlers just a week before Christmas.
Kenny is the nine-year-old resident Rudolph at Dudley Zoo.
The animal recently lost his striking headgear – which turned out to be weighing him down quite a lot.

The antlers weigh a whopping 18.1lbs (8.25kg), reports What’s The Jam.
As a token of appreciation for the adorable animal, the Birmingham-based zoo is planning to mount Kenny’s horns on the wall.
Thankfully, this is a natural process for male reindeers who will grow a new set of antlers at the end of winter.
So it seems over-achiever Kenny is just a little early.
“Our alpha male reindeer, Kenny, has shed his antlers and we’re sure you’ll agree he was carrying around some pretty impressive headgear!”, said the zoo.

“The nine-year-old is well-known for growing a fine set of antlers and this year is no exception.
“After popping them on the scales, we’ve also discovered they weigh in at 8.25kg!
“We’re hoping to get them mounted to install up on the wall in the farm barn for all to see!

“Male reindeer begin growing a new set of antlers at the end of winter.
“While developing, they are covered in a soft brown velvet layer as protection.
“When they are fully grown the velvet will dry up and the reindeer will rub it off, leaving the hard bone underneath, before the entire antlers drops off following the rut.”
Animal lovers and social media users have been left stunned by the weight of the huge antlers.
Michelle said: “Such a beauty.”
Maggie said: “His antlers were huge.”
Pete joked: “Would love to purchase some of these, Bet I think they’ll be a little too deer.”
Sammy said: “I would love to buy these and have them mounted!”
Yvonne added: “Wow wouldn’t like to carry them on my head.”
