If you’re a fan of Paddington Bear, you will need deep pockets to buy the “exceptionally charming” teddy that King Charles III is selling for a whopping £329 this Christmas.

Paddington has been synonymous with the royal family since the late Queen Elizabeth II’s skit with the character for her Diamond Jubilee in 2022.

More recently, the character has also stepped back into the minds of British children following the release of ‘Paddington in Peru’ last month.

The teddy comes complete with a tag urging its new owner to take good care of the bear – which would be a given for anyone willing to spend £329 on a plushie, What’s The Jam reports.

The expensive toy is being sold by King Charles’s Highgrove Estate, to be exact, which has been the monarch’s private residence since 1980.

It is, however, open for tours and events throughout the year and has a shop that sells several luxury items.

As stated on its website, the proceeds from the sales are used to support and enable the work of the King’s Foundation – an educational charity that has a particular focus on environmental protection.

The bear’s description reads: “An exceptionally charming and true to character recreation of Paddington™, who is cherished around the world for his kind nature….and fondness of marmalade sandwiches!

“Entirely British-made, this Paddington collectable plush has been designed to bring a lifetime of joy and companionship and is the ultimate memento of the Paddington movie franchise.

“Beautifully hand-crafted in Merrythought’s historic Ironbridge factory, Paddington combines the finest natural materials with four generations of the very best British teddy bear making expertise.

“The bear’s intricate design and friendly expression accurately capture the personality of the movie character, giving a loyal family friend to enjoy for generations to come.”

King Charles’s Paddington comes with a disclaimer, though – it is intended to be a collector’s item and not a toy.

Each teddy bear owner will also receive a “certificate of authenticity”.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this is not the only eye-poppingly expensive item being sold by the Highgrove Shop this Christmas.

It is also flogging Christmas decorations for as much as £110 each.
