James Bond fans can snap up a 007-style mini helicopter just like the one in You Only Live Twice.

The £12,000 replica gyrocopter is just like the one flown by actor Sean Connery as the spy in the 1967 spy film.

The one in the movie was known as Little Nellie.

The original – arguably Q’s greatest gadget – was equipped with an array of weapons, including rockets, flamethrowers and machine guns.

And this replica also features two pretend rockets strapped to the undercarriage.

Little Nellie was featured in an iconic aerial combat sequence as Bond attempts to locate Blofeld’s rocket base from the air.

But there is a bit of a catch, as the tiny aircraft will require a bit of work if it is going to be taken to the skies again,

It hasn’t been flown for about 40 years, so the engine will need recommissioning.

It is being sold at auction, and the guide price is up to £12,000.

The gyrocopter goes under the hammer next Friday (29 Aug) at Ewbank’s, in Woking, Surrey, as reported on What’s The Jam.

A spokesperson for the auction house reads: “The gyrocopter was manufactured by the well-known W.H.EKIN Engineering Company Ltd in April 1979.

“Issued with registration mark (G-AXYY) and supplied with original Certificate of Registration of Aircraft that has been framed. Listed in the historical register for UK aircraft.

“Fitted with the legendary, reliable Volkswagen 1600cc air-cooled engine modified to 1785cc.

“The engine will require recommissioning to fly again and has not been flown since the 1980s.

“With two boxes of spare engine parts supplied with the Gyrocopter.”

They added: “History folder of letters from previous owners writing to flying clubs and Civil Aviation Authority, including Maintenance procedures instructions for Gyrocopters.

“Interesting Civil Aviation Authority Aircraft Log Book and Engine Log Book with written entries of flight hour details dated from 1979-1986.

“You must satisfy your knowledge as to a vehicle’s description and condition before you decide to bid.

“We recommend that you inspect the lot in person during the general viewing days held prior to the auction day.”
