An iconic Ford Sierra Cosworth has gone on sale for £200,000 – more than four times what it was originally worth.
The diamond white RS500 has just over 16,700 miles on the clock – and is believed to be one of the most original examples still around.
It would have sold for around £16,000 when it was made in 1987.

That is equivalent to about £45,000 in today’s money.
It is build number 468 of the 500 cars ever produced.
The iconic performance car is widely regarded as one of the finest surviving RS500s.
The car is believed to have never been repainted with its Diamond White paintwork understood to remain original.
It has a number of upgrades over the standard Sierra RS Cosworth, including a larger Garrett turbocharger, additional fuel injectors and aerodynamic tweaks.

The result was a car that became a dominant force in Touring Car racing across Europe and Australasia, as reported by What’s The Jam.
Chassis #GG38798 was bought for the BonkeRS Collection in 2008 after being identified as the most original RS500 the collection’s custodians had seen.
Following its purchase, the car underwent a full inspection and preparation programme by the collection’s in-house mechanic before being used for concours and exhibition appearances.

It remained part of the BonkeRS Collection until 2014 and formed part of one of the best-known performance Ford collections in recent years.
Its interior, trim and engine bay have also retained their factory-style finishes, with only light wear expected from careful use.
The history file shows regular maintenance and preservation throughout its enthusiast ownership.
Its listing states: “Combining known history, low ownership mileage, documented provenance and exceptional originality, E84 CDB represents an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire a ‘reference quality’ RS500.
“Its time within the BonkeRS Collection, inclusion within the Dan Williamson publication and believed unrestored condition place it amongst a small number of highly regarded surviving examples.”
It is going under the hammer with Iconic Auctioneers on 25 July at Silverstone Circuit, Northants.
