A holidaymaker thinks he spotted the Loch Ness Monster and said he was shocked he was dark GREY in colour.

Jarod Strong always thought the mythical beast would be green.

He claims he saw Nessie while visiting the famous water with his family.

The latest official sighting happened on 21 October last year but was only recorded yesterday (24 Jan).

Jarod was close to Urquhart Castle on the banks of the loch, near Inverness, Scotland.

It now means there were TEN sightings last year – the highest number since 2020.

Shocked Jarod said: “I was near the castle with my family at about 1 pm when I noticed a little movement in the water.

“Then the water started to move a bit more and a long shape came out of the water.

“He wasn’t the green which I thought he would be, he was more a dark grey colour.”

The tourist added: “Then it quickly went away again but as it was going back under I could see a longer body.

“I don’t know how long it was but it looked really long.”

Jarod said the sighting lasted about four or five seconds and the creature was in the middle of the loch.

Sadly it happened so quickly that he was unable to take a photo.

It comes after Richard Story, of Wigton, Cumbria says he saw a creature in the water two-and-a-half weeks earlier on 3 October last year.

He was walking from Fort Augustus to Invergarry and claims Nessie swam from the bank to the centre of the loch at 10.45 am.

He said it disappeared and then reappeared and managed to take two snaps.

Richard’s account only came to light last month.

On 7 October, Sash Lake, 29, of Bath, Somerset said he saw the monster and it was as big as a “double-decker bus.”

The others in 2023 were made by nurse Fiona Wade on 31 August.

The 60-year-old said she saw three humps in the water.

Three days earlier local Siobhan Janaway saw ripples in the water.

And fellow Nessie spotter Alastair Gray said he saw the Loch Ness Monster on 26 August.

Dad-of-four Steve Valentine said he spotted a “black shape” with “a hump” on 17 August.

On 15 June, Etienne Camel and his wife Eliane, from Lyon, France were visiting Loch Ness from Lyon and claimed to have spotted a 65ft long dark shape moving just beneath the surface of the water for several minutes.

Another tourist, Ceci, from the USA, said she also saw something mysterious for a number of minutes on 31 May.

On 5 April, Francesca McGarvey, of Paisley, was visiting with her mum and dad when she claims she spotted humps in the water. All ten were reported to The Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register.

It is compiled by Nessie expert Gary Campbell who has been doing it since 1996.

There were only six in 2022 and seven in 2021, but 13 in 2020.

A huge search for Nessie took place including drones in August.
