A food influencer has been left unimpressed after trying chef Tom Kerridge’s notoriously pricey fish and chips dinner at Harrods.
James Dimitri, who reviews London-based restaurants for his 75,000 Instagram followers, recently visited the upscale eatery in Harrods Dining Hall.
Priced at £37 for haddock and chips, the 37-year-old was expecting a slap-up meal – but says he came away feeling it was a “complete rip-off”.

Sharing his thoughts in a video that garnered 144,000 views, the foodie bemoaned the price point and the portion sizes.
“Give me a standard chippy fish and chips any day,” James, from London, told What’s The Jam.
“I thought the food was OK.
I’ve definitely had a lot better fish and chips in London.
“Compared to the price point it was a complete rip-off.

“A posh fish and chips in Central London shouldn’t set you back more than £22.”
James also claims the fish was leaking water throughout his dinner – which viewers online believe indicates it had been frozen.
He was also unhappy with the paltry portion of chips, totalling just nine.

He filmed the experience for his followers, adding that he purchased a bread roll to make a chip butty – and the roll set him back £6.
In total, the foodie spent £70.75 on two Pilsener beers, one portion of haddock and chips, bread and butter, a £1 cover charge and a £7.75 service charge.
In the video, he says: “Northerners, look away now – hell, Londoners, look away too.
“I went to Harrods to try Tom Kerridge’s £37 fish and chips.
“First of all, even the cheapest beer was £9.50.
“Here’s the fish and chips. It comes with a total of nine whole chips, as well as a curry sauce, pea puree and tartar.
“The batter was nice and crispy, and the fish seemed fresh.
“But the fish was small and it kept leaking loads of water all over the plate – non-stop leakage.
“The chips were nice but not elite.
“I also paid £6 for a bread roll to make a little chip butty.
“This was pretty good but probably set me back a tenner after adding two chips.
“Was it worth it? No.
“It’s got a 3.3 on Google for a good reason.”
The post garnered thousands of likes and hundreds of comments.

Someone else commented: “£52.50 for Fish & Chips, a bread roll and a beer?!? Doesn’t matter how good it tastes, that’s still insane.”
“Absolutely outrageous!! that fish and chips 4 times in my local chippy and tonnes of chips!!” another user wrote.
Someone else added: “Absolutely scandalous. I couldn’t bring myself to pay that kind of money for fish n chips. Northern girl here.”
James visited the restaurant last Wednesday (28 August), but doesn’t sound set to return.
He added: “The fact it [the fish] was leaking so much liquid – which a lot of people have pointed out means it could have been frozen – definitely brings it down a level.
“I’d say you’re looking at paying around £14 for fish and chips and most of the top chippies in London these days, and the quality and portion size is a lot better than what I had at Kerridge’s.”
