A Ferrari once owned by Robbie Savage has sold for a bargain £54,000 at auction.

The BBC and BT Sport pundit’s flash ex-sports car was expected to fetch £80,000.

The 48-year-old ex-Wales international bought the Ferrari F430 Spider when he played for Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League in 2006.

He was celebrating the club being in the Uefa Cup at the time.

He snapped up the 193mph motor – with a 0-60mph of 4.1. seconds – for around £100,000.

But he went on to break his leg months later.

It only had 26,000 miles on the clock.

It even had a MoT – with no advisories – up until May next year chucked in.

But it was bought for £26,000 below the asking price when it went under the hammer.

Savage – now director of football at non-league outfit Macclesfield – admitted blowing over £500,000 on luxury motors.

The ex-Leicester City and Derby midfielder also had Lamborghinis, Aston Martins and Porsches.

The soft top Ferrari was sold at H&H Classics auction at Duxford, Cambridgeshire.

The listing read: “Comprehensive service history.

“Formerly the property of Premier League and Welsh International footballer Robbie Savage.”

“Displacing 4308cc, its ‘quad cam’, 32-valve V8 was quoted as developing 483bhp and 343lbft of torque.

“Allied to either manual or F1-style ‘paddle shift’ transmission, both six-speed, it enabled the F430 Spider to sprint from 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds and onto over 193mph.

“Savage was playing for Blackburn Rovers at the time, his choice of a F430 Spider was echoed by none other than Lionel Messi.”
