The booze loving Brits are doing themselves proud this summer after distributors revealed the huge number of beer being guzzled down by holidaymakers.

Sales in the area have increased by a whopping 30% in comparison to a normal summer of trading.

It is estimated that by the end of the World Cup on 19 Jul – four million litres of beer will have been supplied to bars and pubs in the area, as reported by Whats The Jam.

That is over seven million pints to be drunk by England fans who opted for sunny Spain over the expensive tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Distributors who spoke to Alicante Today, revealed that spots in Benidorm are currently getting through 190,000 litres of beer a day.

This is the equivalent to over 333,000 pints.

The increase in football fans descending on the tourist hotspot is believed to be down to the huge cost of the tournament this summer.

Prices across the pond have stretched to jaw-dropping £12.52 ($16.95) a pint, whereas the average pint goes for just £1.73 (€2) in Benidorm.

The huge increase in demand for beer has jumped from the last football tournament hosted in the summer.

During Euro 2024, one distributor shifted around 700,000 litres of beer but this summer they are expecting to get through 900,000 litres.

Ginés Cañavate told Alicante Today that the increase in ‘young people’ in the area has upped the demand for beer.

Local pubs and bars also confirmed to the publication that business is up by 30% – which is mirrored by the distributor’s stats.

During the 2022 World Cup in Qatar the demand in the area was much lower, due to the tournament being hosted in the winter.

Sergio Bobante, head of one major distributor, claimed they moved just 300,000 litres of beer during the last World Cup.

With the huge influx of Three Lions fans in Benidorm – one Brit has reminded them of a little known fine that could land them in deep trouble.

Harry Poulton has revealed a simple World Cup act could land tourists with a whopping £500 fine.

“You could get fined up to £500 for wearing an England football top this summer here in Benidorm,” the content creator, from Brighton, said.

“You wouldn’t be very happy, I imagine.

“There’s actually talk of parts of Spain where they’re not going to want you to wear your football top – your England football top.

“How crazy is that?”

While jarring, the fine isn’t anything new.

In 2025, it was reported that those supporting the Lionesses while holidaying in Spain were handed the hefty fee.

The warning comes just days before England’s first knock out match against the DR Congo on 1 Jul.
