An elderly dog walker trapped waist-deep in mud has been rescued by two runners.
Josh Davies-Box and Callum Watkins sped to the aid of Jenny Hancock and her labradoodle Millie.
The 81-year-old had become stuck in the mire of a waterlogged field.

She rang her husband Tim, who was waiting at a nearby café, but he didn’t have his phone.
Jenny then rang the café, where Josh and Callum, a pair of runners from Short Strides Running Club, happened to be sitting.
The pair quickly rushed to the woman’s aid.
The incident took place in Newport, south Wales, as reported by What’s The Jam.
Callum said: “Jenny had gone for a walk with her dog and got stuck in soft mud.

“We were at the café but we didn’t really know how bad the situation was.
“So we walked over there with her husband, and that’s when we realised it was a bit more serious.
“Jenny was on her knees and her legs and feet had gone underneath the mud and she couldn’t pull herself back up.

“So we had to work out how we were going to get her out.
“We tried lifting her but we started to sink as well.
“It was essentially quicksand at this point.
“Luckily, there was some wood laying around, so we managed to use that as something to stand on, and also roll her onto her side, then her back.
“This was all after digging the mud out from her with bare hands.
“She’s very lucky, if she didn’t have her phone I’m not sure how she would have got out.
“The area where it happened is having work done to it so accessibility isn’t great.
“When we got there we couldn’t even see or hear her calling – she’s very lucky indeed.
“Josh played a huge part in this, [he] sacrificed his gloves without evening thinking – a good man.”
To show their gratitude for the rescue, which took place on 27 Dec, Jenny and her husband have donated £50 to the running club, which will be used to replace Josh’s gloves and possibly for a Bluetooth speaker.
A club spokesperson added: “Big shout out to Joshua and Callum for helping Jenny out of the mud after finishing the run, big respect.
“More than a run club, we’re something just a bit different.
“We’ll rescue you if you’re stuck in the mud too.”
