A crafty dad has created Britain’s smallest bar… in the cupboard under his stairs.

Andy Dyer has described the tiny room, which only fits three people, to be his “little haven.”

The 51-year-old has spent £800 kitting it out.

It has a drinks fridge, a draft beer machine, a neon sign and funky decor.

On the walls and inside of the door, are dozens of coasters that Andy has purchased and collected that create the perfect atmosphere.

The dad-of-one has also added a disco ball, sunglasses, caps, and crisps which hang on the wall.

His wife, Corrine, 50, and 14-year-old son, Max, love the bar and are very proud of Andy’s hard work.

“The bar came out of nowhere, to be honest,” Andy, from Holystone, near Newcastle, told What’s The Jam.

“It started in December 2021 when my wife bought me a Philips Perfect draft machine.”

“After a few days, Corrine said to me, after it was on the kitchen bench, ‘You’re going to have to move that, there’s too much temptation to pull a pint’.”

“Corrine emptied the ironing board from the cupboard under the stairs, the machine went in, and that was the day the bar was born.”

Describing the bar to still be an ongoing project, Andy purchased optics for spirits, and a drinks chiller after placing the draft machine in there.

He found many small accessories in charity shops, and family and friends would also collect beer mats for him whenever they went on holiday.

One night, he felt his bar was looking a little dull and fitted some LED lights inside to give it more life.

From hip flasks to keyrings, to Guinness glasses, to coasters with his name on them, Andy has been all about finding the quirkiest items.

He said: “The lighting was quite difficult to install.”

“It was looking a little glum so I had the idea one night after watching TV, that I should put LED lights in it like we have around our telly.

“I have many little items that have been collected over the years. The smaller and quirkier the better.

“We’ve always loved pubs and clubs and we don’t have the space to have one in the garden.

“This was the next best thing. We don’t have far to travel to it either and you never get wet going to this bar.

“Corrine absolutely loves it and friends alike. They love how quirky it is and unique.”

Rather than converting a garage or building one in his garden, he wanted to do something different.

His son, Max, inspired him to share videos of his bar on TikTok and helped him to create a profile and film content dedicated to his bar.

“It is all down to my son Max that the bar made it onto social media,” Andy said.

“It was Max’s idea to create an ‘Andy’s Bar’ profile to which Max takes full credit for all the video, music and editing.

“Without Max, the world would never have seen this fantastic mini-bar

“It is my little haven and I am very proud of it.”
