A café is serving up a gut-busting 11,000-calorie pie challenge – but not a single soul has managed to polish it off.

The eatery launched the mammoth meal just two months ago.

And despite a dozen brave punters giving it a go, every one of them has been beaten by the mountain of northern comfort food.

The colossal dish comes with a choice of cheese and onion or minced beef pie, a whopping 3lbs of chips, five glasses of peas or beans, five slices of bread and butter, and two jugs of gravy.

And it is all served on a 32-inch plate big enough to double as a satellite dish.

Jonny Adams, who helped create the beastly banquet for the Peggie’s Kitchen in Droylsden, Gtr Manc, says 12 people have tried – and every one’s failed.

“Nobody has managed to complete the challenge because they get too full,” Jonny told What’s the Jam.

“They all end up in a food coma and depressed because they have to pay.

“There’s about 11,000 calories on the huge plate and it’s quite heavy to carry.

“The pie is eight servings and it’s 5.5kg of food altogether.

“The food is delicious but there’s so much of it so everyone who’s tried has had to quit.

“It’s a classic northern dish so people love it.”

The 42-year-old says more hungry hopefuls are signing up every week, desperate to become the first to conquer the mega-pie mountain.

Jonny added: “People always seem confident at the start.

“Customers keep attempting it so I’m excited to see if anyone manages it.”

A clip showing one valiant customer’s attempt has already racked up more than 337,000 views online.

The confident diner vowed to lick the plate clean in 13 minutes – but threw in the towel after 16 minutes.

Viewers were quick to pile in with their comments.

One said: “Putting into a pile to make look like he’s eaten more.

“I used to do that with my mum’s dinner.

“Mind you, she was a terrible cook.”

Another added: “I wouldn’t eat that much in a week.”

Sue chipped in: “He needed a spoon. Not a fork. But had no chance.

“Personally I’d be overwhelmed and unable to eat much at all with the size of the meal.”

Someone else warned: “Don’t start off with chips. Fills you up quicker.”

And Jeff summed it up: “How you can enjoy the food if you only have set time finish it?

“I would prefer pie, chips with gravy then about one week to finish it.”

So far, no one’s managed to pie-oneer a win, but the café says the challenge is still open for anyone with the appetite – and stomach – of a champion.
