Britain’s fittest postie might deliver parcels in the early hours but she’s pushing weights in the world of bodybuilding.
Former triathlete Lucy Garland turned to strength training after a road accident left her with a serious knee injury.
Now the busy mum-of-three balances the demands of parenthood with her job at Royal Mail and her love for all things fitness.

Every day, Lucy is up before dawn for cardio.
Then she is out on the road delivering to customers before heading straight to the gym.
And Lucy’s dedication paid off when she won Ms Universe in 2023 – a victory that brought her to tears, especially knowing her children were watching.
“The guys at the gym said I had potential, so I researched bodybuilding and thought, ‘why not give it a try?'” Lucy, who works for Royal Mail in Honiton, Devon said.
What followed was a rapid rise through the bodybuilding ranks, as reported on What’s The Jam.
As a single mum, she says the flexibility of her role has enabled her to fit in early morning training, intense sessions after work and quality time with her three children.
She said: “It’s proof that with hard work, you can achieve anything.
“It’s all about willpower and time management.
“If you’re determined, you can make it happen.”
Lucy said she doesn’t just compete for titles – she competes to show her children and all women that strength is not just physical, but mental and emotional too.
She added: “My love, my passion, what excites me, what get me out of bed every day, what drives me, is this sport.
“I live and breathe it.
“I used to feel tired, sluggish, no energy and pretty much worthless.
“Until, I found a coach, changed my nutrition and trained hard.
“Now I am more active than ever, have way more energy, feel alive, alert and doing so much more.
“This is all down to nutrition and looking after me.”
