Britain’s biggest collection of toy robots is up for sale and is expected to fetch a cool £30,000.

Over 400 robots, amassed by an enthusiast who was given his first toy robot as a child and continued collecting until last year, are to be auctioned.

The toys are mainly from the 1960s and showcase the trend for ‘space-age’ technology of the time – those featuring batteries were still a relative novelty.

“It’s probably the biggest collection in the country and certainly the biggest collection I’ve seen.

“Most of them come from the golden age of space toys – the 1960s.

“They represent a time where we were fascinated by space travel, where humankind was just a few years away from landing on the moon.”

The collection features in excess of 400 robots which have been divided into 250 lots.
