Graham travelled an hour to make the rescue.
The bird was released apparently none the worse for its ordeal.
He works for The Wildfowl Sanctuary, in Huntingdon, Cambs and it happened in Stotfold, Beds, as reported by What’s The Jam.
Graham said: “I like a challenge.
“The swan had fallen to the bottom of a mill wheel.

“It was dark, a long way down and required a variety of rescue equipment – just in case.
“Emily from the mill called after ringing around.
“It was almost an hour away so the harness, ropes and head torch was grabbed and I set off.

“The pole extension and retrieval rope was prepped before I worked my way down.
“Fortunately there was a lower section I could climb on to.
“The plan was to net and lift our friend prior to being lifted up and out with the rope.
“Thanks to Emily, Dan and Jay who were working at the Mill and proved to be an excellent support team for me.
“Good team work.”
Emily Taylor of Stotfold Mill, had called Graham.
She said: “Graham, once again massive thanks from myself, Dan and Jay, and the owners of the mill.
“It’s always awful to see a wild animal in distress.
“Your speed in getting to us was so appreciated, I couldn’t have done it without you.”
