Balenciaga is selling a plain work shirt for £595, which is 27 times more expensive than an identical one from Next.
The designer one has a bit of a drawback too – it can’t be washed.
It is part of the trendy brand’s Winter Collection for this year.

The long-sleeved Men’s Standard Shirt in Baby Blue is made of cotton.

It has Balenciaga engraved on the seven buttons down the front and on the cuffs.
But keeping it looking clean and fresh could be problematic.
But the product care information reads: “Do not wash.

“Clean inside out, do not bleach, do not tumble dry.

“Iron at maximum temperature 120°C, dry cleaning with tetrachloroethene or hydrocarbons, mild process.”
The near identical one from High Street chain Next is just £22, as reported on What’s The Jam.
Called a Light Blue Slim Fit Easy Care Single Cuff Smart Shirt, buyers could get 27 of them for the same price as the Balenciaga one.

And they’d still have £1 change.
The description reads: “For a crisp look that lasts all day, you can’t go wrong with our light blue easy-care shirt.
“Made from a smooth cotton blend, this shirt is incredibly soft to the touch, with a crease-resistant finish that’s a dream to iron.
With its classic button-down front and sharp collar, it creates a sleek silhouette that’s perfect for the office or smarter occasions.
But in contrast, it adds: “Machine washable.”
Shoppers have been chuffed with it too.
Richard, of Leeds, said: “Love these shirts which I buy for work.
“They wash well and minimal ironing all though I do like a nice sharp crease on the sleeves.

“Excellent quality and value.”
Londoner Jon added: “Just the job.”
Philip, of Redditch, said in his review: “Comfortable, easy wash and iron and great for work or smart casual.”
Two years ago, Balenciaga was mocked for flogging plain-looking wellington boots for £875.
Its ‘Men’s Excavator boots’ in black look just like budget brand Dunlop’s Universal Wellington that cost only £28.99.
