An eight-year-old is believed to have become the world’s youngest artist to have his own exhibition.

The young prodigy, Kevin Kovacs, has been painting non-stop since he first picked up a brush when he was three.

Now, his works are on display at a gallery and have sold.

Kevin believes his talent is innate, and he can produce a piece in around 15 minutes.

Selecting 30 of his works for his first public exhibition wasn’t a problem because he has around 250 at home, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Kevin said: “I just found painting was really easy for me.

“I think I was born with it.

“When someone said they wanted to put my work on display, I thought it was a joke.”

The self-taught artist from Wellington, near Taunton, Somerset, loves to paint old buildings and boats.

Angela Harding of the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre, Taunton, where the exhibition is being held, said some paintings had already sold.

“Some people might see them as investments which should be good for Kevin and his family,” she said.

“He’s not quite as confident about his artwork as he should be.

“But I hope he’s proud of what he’s produced and what’s on our walls.”

His photographer parents, Natalia, 44, and Robert, 46, recognise their son’s talent, but aren’t pushing him towards a life in art.

Natalia said: “We are really proud of him.

“Kevin is so happy he has an exhibition because people get to see his art.

“We recently went to a Leslie Worth exhibition in Bideford, Devon, and Kevin was inspired by his art.

“He likes to paint boats, and he also gets inspiration from the places we visit.

“He loves to paint, loves to draw, and he loves to play all kinds of sports.

“Anything he chooses, as long as he enjoys it, we are happy to be there for him and help him.”

When he’s not at school or painting, Kevin plays with Lego and Airfix kits.
