A savvy thrifter was left gobsmacked after stumbling on a pair of designer shoes worth £275 for just two quid in her local charity shop.
Bargain-hunter Lola Amuah, 36, from Derby, is no stranger to a good find and regularly shows off her cut-price hauls on social media.
But even she couldn’t believe her luck on a recent sister date in Derby city centre, when she spotted not one but two major steals on the shoe shelves.

First, she clocked a pair of black Dune mules going for just £4.
But tucked away among a pile of flats was the real gem: a shiny pair of Tory Burch ballet flats – the Reva Travel Ballet style, which normally flog for £275.
Lola snapped them up for just £2, saving herself a whopping £273.
“This was a casual sister date day, we always go charity shopping together,” she told What’s The Jam.
“We always find good items in this store, but we couldn’t believe they were sitting there for so cheap.

“This particular store always stocks amazing brands. I found an amazing lace Sandro co-ord in there once for the same price.
“I’m always shocked at what people no longer want anymore.
“But also grateful it allows me to feed my charity shopping addiction.

“I mean, who doesn’t like hunting for bargains whilst saving the planet?”
But Lola says reaction to her haul has been fiercely split, with some followers stunned by the bargain, and others fuming that such a pricey label was sold for pennies.
She said: “The reaction differed.
“Some people were amazed that something so valuable could be found in a charity shop.
“Others were appalled at the fact that it was priced so low.
“The truth is this particular store is a discount store.
“Items here have been in other stores across the country and haven’t sold, so they are sent here as a last-ditch effort to get them gone.
“I think this really highlights how overpriced charity shops can be.
“Perhaps if prices were lower in stores, they’d never have to be this low.”
Lola has been documenting her charity shop, car boot and yard sale adventures on TikTok since August 2024, aiming to smash the myth that second-hand equals second-rate.
She said: “The idea was to debunk the theory that pre-loved is rubbish and actually you can find amazing items whilst supporting charities, saving your wallet and the planet.”
And she’s not short of jaw-dropping finds.
Lola added: “My favourite find to date was a vintage Celine bag for £3.50.
“We found a £1,200 Ralph Lauren jacket for £20 in a store once, and a Dior sweater for £25 that would retail for around £1,000.
“It’s amazing what you can find in these places!”
