As he approaches the gate he scans the bag which surprisingly worked.

Cheeky Will Ainslie, community and content manager for Boundless, did it as the products were being launched in WHSmith Travel stores across the nation.

Will said: “The gates opened, and chaos ensued.

“The internet is divided ‘Can you really scan a snack as a boarding pass?’

“Seeing millions of people debate, reshare, and tag their friends in disbelief has been absolutely surreal – some would say a marketing girly’s dream.

“Working in a start-up, I’ve always been about the big ideas and pushing boundaries, so 24 million views, thousands of comments, and one very confused internet later, I’m still laughing about this one.”

But he had his boarding pass under the crisp packet all along, its believed.

Members of the public were left divided by the clip.

Olivia Colbeck said: “How does this even work I’m so confused.”

Niko added: “This person gets in with a bag of chips and it takes me 10 tries to scan the actual boarding pass.”
