A sci-fi superfan has spent £10,000 building a Star Wars-themed bar in his back garden from scratch.

Chester Walsh spent two months building his dream home bar based on his favourite film franchise

The bar design is based on the famous Mos Eisley Cantina which was featured in Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope.

Fans first see the Cantina when they are introduced to Harrison Ford’s iconic character Han Solo.

Since Chester’s early twenties, he has been Star Wars-mad.

The garden bar is 5.5 by 4.5 metres and features a large main room with a bar section for Chester to serve his pals drinks that are out of this world.

The 27-year-old from Northampton purchased a summerhouse cabin for £4,000 and then set about turning it into his dream design.

The remaining £6,000 in the budget was used on materials to build the exterior and kit out the interior design.

Pals coming round for a few drinks at the bar will be greeted by a droid bartender to fit the theme of the venue.

Chester, who lives with his partner, told What’s The Jam: “It was a sense of relief to have it done.

“It’s not fully complete for now, there are some small adjustments to make and other things I want to add in the future.

“For now the main project of the cantina is done and anything further I’m seeing as another project or mini projects in my mind.

“Originally, I designed it as a ship but after struggling to find a base which would have rounded walls to the roof and an overall base shape that would be long-lasting and not extortionately expensive.

“I decided a summer house cabin type of base would work to make the outside like the galaxy’s edge buildings.”

Chester – who used to work in a law firm, but now is a prop maker – added: “The doorway entrance which I think came out very cool and is quite impactful for the overall look.

“Palpatine’s Mural is quite a large centre art piece which I think adds to the “higher end” cantina that has in world collectors’ items.

“Honestly, I struggled to be into Star Wars when I was younger, which was weird as I loved superheroes and comic books and had posters of space, galaxies, planets and even glow-in-the-dark stars on my ceiling.

“It wasn’t until my early 20s when I fell in love with Star Wars and now it’s 100% my favourite franchise.”
