A ‘Jack Sparrow biker’ with no engineering experience has created a motorcycle that can ride on water.

Flo Suchail embarked on the project after watching a video online and decided to create a personalised water bike, despite having no knowledge of mechanics.

Flo, who originally comes from Haute-Loire in southern France but currently lives in Australia, said he “threw himself into the adventure”, designing the aquatic motorcycle himself.

He told What’s The Jam: “I had to do the design myself because there aren’t any technical plans on how to recreate a water bike.

“I had to invent everything.

“To make the bike waterproof, I used materials at hand such as tape and silicone.

“I’ve had a number of motorcycles in the past, so I know that by adding a sand filter, for example, water won’t go into the engine as much.

“The bike is not 100% waterproof, but I can ride it for a relatively long time on the water without having any problems.”

He said he even used a bed base and car parts for some of the vehicle’s features.

Flo had to study “industrial maintenance and mechanics related to motorbikes” to complete his project.

He added: “I taught myself by making a lot of mistakes and breaking some very expensive parts.”

He said he also had to import special rain tyres from the US that cost $1,300 each.

Flo said: “I worked on it every day for about a year, I started at 6am and finished at 7pm.

“I worked on my own because my friends in Australia do not know about mechanics.

“I didn’t have a lot of money because, during this project, I injured my ankle and I couldn’t work on it for a month.

“I recycled beer cans and glass bottles to be able to eat because all my money was going into this project.

“It’s really something that was close to my heart.”

At the moment, Flo does not have any plans to market his invention, but his unique story has already inspired thousands of people on social media.
