An influencer was left gagging after tucking into what he called the “worst thing that ever graced my mouth” – the world’s stinkiest tofu.
James Patrick Ellingworth, who’s known for stomach-churning food challenges, almost threw up after trying fermented jarred tofu – a delicacy that’s famous for its eye-watering pong.
The social media star has previously tackled the notoriously smelly Swedish fish dish Surströmming, but said the tofu was even worse.

“I was expecting to blow chunks, full transparency,” James, from Louisiana, US, told What’s The Jam.
“But I yacked as soon as it touched the tip of my tongue.

“It’s by far the worst thing that’s ever graced my mouth.
“Worse than the Surströmming but marginally.
“Kind of like comparing whether you’d prefer to be shot or stabbed.”
Inspired by other creators trying bizarre foods, James decided to film himself taking on the fermented bean curd himself.

But as soon as he opened the jar, the smell hit him and he immediately started gagging.
Between retches, he said: “You’re supposed to put it on top of rice porridge and mix it in, only using a small amount.
“I’m going to eat this the improper way, because you guys like to watch me suffer for some reason, so I hate you guys.”

His video of the stomach-turning moment has racked up more than 1.3 million views online, with 55,000 likes and over 1,500 comments from horrified fans.
One viewer wrote: “The amount of flies that showed up after you opened the jar is crazy.”

Another said: “I’m gagging and I’m not even smelling it.”
A third commented: “Dude it has veins bro…….. VEINS.”
One fan added: “I’m Asian and won’t even touch that with a 10-foot pole. I salute you for trying.”
And Jason chimed in: “I can smell it from this video.”

Despite the ordeal, James joked he might be willing to give it another go – depending on how much money the video makes.
