A travel-loving teacher has revealed a “genius” 99p hack that has saved her hundreds of pounds on flights.

Lucy is a teacher and globetrotter who is constantly on the move.

Over the years, she’s picked up a fair few clever tricks.

And her latest involves storing liquids in contact lens cases.

The 30-year-old shared the hack in a TikTok video, which has racked up more than 28,900 views.

“I thought of it after finding that the refillable containers sold in travel sections of shops were still not very space efficient,” Lucy, from Scotland, told What’s The Jam.

“You don’t need 100ml of moisturiser or foundation for a weekend, or even a week’s holiday.

“And trying to squeeze liquids into plastic bags for budget airline carry-on limits.

“My husband uses contact lenses and I realised contact lens cases were perfect for things like moisturiser, cleanser or foundation as they’re leakproof, easy to refill, light and take up almost no space.”

Lucy says the hack has saved her “a fair bit” over time.

She said: “Mainly by avoiding buying overpriced travel minis and by letting me pack light enough to skip checked luggage fees.

“I haven’t bought budget airline baggage in years, thanks to wee hacks like this.

“So I guess with 10+ flights a year over the past 4 years it’s in the hundreds.”

In the video, Lucy pops moisturiser, foundation, cleansing balm and cleansing gel into the tiny containers.

She also often packs a liquid blush, which doubles as a lip tint.

Lucy captioned the post: “Wondering how to pack when you’re hand luggage only?

“Ryanair will never get any extra fees out of me ever ever ever.”

Fans loved it.

Samantha said, “This is absolute genius.”

Sam said: “I’m going to try this for some of my make-up too, like lipstick and blush!”

Another user added: “Oh, this is a great idea!”
