A waitress has revealed her rather unusual – and extremely inconvenient – phobia: tomato sauce.
Alexandriah Govan says she has a “fear of ketchup” despite having to handle it regularly for work.
The 23-year-old shared a TikTok detailing the experience, which garnered 8.7 million views.

In the video, she can be seen filling up empty bottles of Heinz with a large wholesale version of the brand’s sauce while wincing and gagging – a reaction she has had since 12.
“I developed a fear of ketchup after my sister sprayed a bottle of it on me,” Alexandriah, an actress from Glasgow, told What’s The Jam.
“The smell, even the colour, makes me shiver.
“I hate it so much.
“When I handle ketchup at my work, I have to hide me heaving at it.

“I think the vinegary smell puts me off the most.
“When customers use it, the noise of the bottle makes [me feel] even worse.”
She shared her experience on TikTok, where the clip went viral with 350,000 likes.

In the video, she appears so disturbed by the sauce that she accidentally overfills the containers, sending sauce splatters down the side and onto the counter.
Surprisingly, the post resonated with many viewers.
One person commented: “Genuinely thought I was the only person in the world with a fear of ketchup.”
“Ketchup is the devil,” another user agreed.
Someone else said: “I HATE KETCHUP SO MUCH.”
“Ketchup phobia is so real,” another user wrote.
“I thought it was only me with the fear I can’t STAND it,” agreed another viewer.
Someone else commented: “I’d cry I hate ketchup.”
But other viewers were less understanding.
One said: “It’s ketchup mate give it a rest.”
“Can’t remember the last time someone lived after facing ketchup,” joked another critic.
Someone else added: “I love ketchup I could eat spoonfuls of it.”
And it’s not just tomato sauce that Alexandriah has a reaction to.
She added: “I have a phobia of most of the other sauces – especially mayo.
“Also the little holes in crumpets freak me out – I can’t eat them.”
