A woman was compared to cheese Doritos after waking up bright orange following a spray tan.
Iris Owen was expecting a subtle glow after getting sprayed at a salon, but woke up getting a rather darker shade than she had bargained for.
The 25-year-old, from London, clocked something was wrong when her dad “gasped” after catching sight of her the next morning.

Heading to work despite the beauty disaster, Iris says she was quickly likened to the neon orange crisps.
Taking it on the chin, the pub worker adopted latex gloves for her shift – where the theme of the evening was, ironically, Aperol Spritz.
“My colleague met me on the walk to work and couldn’t stop laughing and taking photos of me,” Iris, who works as a pub quiz host, told What’s The Jam.
“Once getting to work, my colleague insisted I wore latex gloves for the entirety of the day because my hands were truly the darkest bit.
“The irony of working at the Aperol Spritz bar was hilarious – thank god I am a really light-hearted person.

“I took it in my stride and wore an orange straw hat and made orange cocktails all day.
“When life gives you oranges…
“I also got compared to Tangy Cheese Doritos a lot that day.”

She shared the tale on TikTok, where the pictures garnered 75,000 views.
One person wrote: “My jaw dropped.”
Another user commented: “I feel this.. this has happened to me.. I DID EVERYTHING RIGHT.”
“Always do your research on where you go on spray tans,” advised someone else.
Someone else said: “I’ll always do my own tan, I’m so scared of spray tans.”
Iris’ first clue that something was amiss with the tan came when she got home.
She said: “I got the spray tan in the early evening and then headed home and even though I thought it was looking slightly darker, I trusted the process and went to sleep.
“I woke up and went into the living room where my dad saw me and gasped.
“Then I looked in the mirror, screamed and sent photos straight to my girls’ group chat.
“My dad begged me not to go to work but very little seemed to embarrass me, so I ran with it.”
Iris says it took around two weeks for her tan to come off, but that it looked much better after the first week had passed.
She also used a tinted moisturiser on the lighter parts of her body to help it blend more evenly.
The beauty fan says she had tried out a new salon, and that they offered her a full refund once she sent a picture of the outcome.
Iris added: “After this catastrophe, I learnt how to use a self-tanner and although the occasional streak occurs, it’ll never be as bad as that!”
