An influencer has left viewers shocked after performing the watermelon challenge.
Jameliz Benitez Smith, also known online as Jelly Bean Brains, was panicked about the mess it had caused, reports What’s The Jam.
She posted the clip to her 2.5m followers on Instagram, demonstrating the experiment being carried out.
The influencer racked up 13.4m views and over 291,000 likes. In the video, Jameliz places elastic bands around the fruit until it begins to crack.

Nervously, she places one more elastic band and steps back as it starts to leak juice.
Suddenly, it bursts right in front of her.
The clip was captioned: “My dad’s gonna be so mad when he sees this mess.”
Users have flocked to the comments to share their reactions, with many left in stitches.

It’s not the first time Jameliz has played with fire.
The influencer, from the US, often boasts about her fleet of supercars.
She recently caused £260,000 worth of damages after dancing on the roof her Lamborghini, cracking the windscreen.
While the watermelon challenge was a first for her, another woman went viral a few years ago for the same hilarious experiment.
Ellice Nisbet was in the garden of her home with her dad, who was encouraging her to drop the fruit.
She had spent 30 minutes wrapping 48 thick elastic bands around the melon to apply pressure.
In the clip, Ellice can be seen holding the fruit, as she prepares to drop it on the stone pavement.
The intention was for the watermelon to explode on impact with the ground – but it doesn’t.
Ellice then reaches down to pick it up and as she does, the fruit blows up, hitting her in the face.
The young girl staggers off, holding her nose which took the brunt of the eruption, while her dad, who was filming, can be heard laughing in the background.
She said: “Luckily, my nose didn’t break, but my nose, lip and face were pretty banged up for a few weeks.
“Red, swollen and bruised as if I had gotten into a fight and lost really badly.”
