A top chef has shared a mind-blowing hack that he claims can make any slice of beef taste the same as the coveted wagyu steak.
On average, the luxurious beef – which is from a special breed of cattle in Japan – can set you back from £80 upwards.
But Vincent Yeow Lim’s hack could potentially see you turn a £4 Asda steak into just as delicious a meal.
The 29-year-old chef and influencer has left his 916,000 followers (@dimsimlim) with their mouths agape – with the recent video racking up 20.4m views so far.

“This is a technique used in the majority of Chinese restaurants,” Vincent, a content creator from Sydney, Australia, told What’sTheJam.com.

“The recipe I posted is my own recipe for my old restaurant which will turn tough beef to butter!
“I went through thousands of kilograms of beef and years of trial and error to come up with the recipe.
“And now, following my recipe, anyone can do it.”

In the video shared on Instagram, Vincent shares how to make the meat by comparing two cooks.
He starts by showing a large cut, saying: “This is beef topside, and I can turn any piece of beef into wagyu.”
The chef pops the topside on a chopping board, grabs a knife and cuts the beef into thin slices against the grain.

Vincent then splits the beef into two bowls, before adding baking soda to one, massaging the meat and rinsing it out.
The next step includes adding water, salt, sugar, chicken powder, MSG, white pepper, sesame oil, soy sauce and cornstarch and mixing them together.
The other plain bowl of beef is popped into a wok and cooked, then removed.
The chef follows this up by putting the other bowl of beef in, cooking it, taking it out, and popping it next to the plain meat to compare the two.
As he pulls apart both types of beef he says: “Look at the difference.
“This one [plain beef] is all rubbery and hard.
“Whereas this beef [the wagyu style] will absorb so much more sauces and flavour, it literally falls apart.
“Just like wagyu, Chinese restaurant wagyu.”
The clip has so far gathered almost 550,000 likes, as well as thousands of comments from fans.
Wilson said: “It’s like giving more love and steroids to the beef!”
