A man was stunned to come across a “green alien” while on a beach in North Wales.
Simon Parker was walking his dog on Pensarn beach in Conwy when he came across a strange creature on the sand.
Baffled as to what it could be, he snapped a picture of it – a half-foot-long sea creature with a vivid green fringe and spikes.

“It was low tide and as I walked along the water’s edge, I noticed something unusual on the sand,” Simon, 62, a local teacher, told What’s The Jam.
“It didn’t appear to be alive, but the colours of the bristles down its sides were very distinct.”
Using Google Lens, Simon identified it as a sea mouse – a furry marine worm that can devour prey up to three times their own size.
The predators hunt for small crabs and other worms on the seabed, but can wash up on beaches, with sharp bristles that can irritate the skin if you tread on one.
Simon shared pictures of the find on Facebook, where users compared it to an “alien”, “fossil” and said it “looks prehistoric”.

Others shared that they had never heard of sea mice before.
While not uncommon, sea mice are rarely seen, though they have been known to wash up on beaches during harsh weather or can be stranded by low tides.
While they can appear disguised in the sand, they have a distinctive fringe, structured to reflect light in a certain way – with the colourful display possibly deterring predators on the dark seabed.

According to The Wildlife Trusts, it is “unlike anything else in the sea”.
