A welding wiz has put together his very own chainmail blanket.
Jesse Fowler built the aluminium throw to serve as a piece of comfy armour.
Making use of his tools he was able to transform seven kilograms of aluminium wire into the perfect weighted blanket for himself.
He now spends his evenings relaxing in with his mediaeval quilt.

“The heat dissipating properties and weight of aluminium are perfect for this.
“I bought a spool of high quality aluminium wire that was 7kg in weight.

“I put a dowel in my cordless drill, and made a slit for the end of the wire into the chuck.
“I made a rig for the wire to go through, to keep it in place
“I started with the drill end against the rig, and moved it as the dowel got wrapped.

“When I got to the end, I just cut the coil end, slipped it off, and then cut the rings off, about four at a time with wire cutters that I ground down so they would fit inside the coil.
“Then I wove them together.”
Since sharing his old school creation, on the Dull Men’s Club Facebook group, many people have come out in support of the idea.
Naomi Baynes said: “Also doubles as armour, amazing if any break ins happen and the perpetrator has a sword.
“It looks awesome you did an amazing job.”
Mauricio Mendoza said: “When you sleep over at your blacksmith friend’s house and ask him for a blanket.”
Mark Oldham said: “Are you sure this was cheaper than getting a weighted blanket?”
