Stuart Broad has ditched wickets for wines by becoming a plonk connoisseur.

The former English cricketer – who retired last summer – already owns two boozers.

But the 38-year-old bowling legend is now reviewing wine too.

Broad – engaged to ex-Saturdays singer Mollie King – has teamed up with Laithwaites.

He has recommended three wines to customers.

A Laithwaites spokesperson said: “Ready to be bowled over by the new wine series from England cricket legend Stuart Broad?

“Each ‘Beyond The Wicket’ selection is inspired by Stuart’s experiences touring the world – and delivers superb flavour and quality.

“This trio features mouthwatering New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc alongside an elegant rosé and juicy Malbec, both from South Africa.

“And if you’re new to Laithwaites, you save an extra 30% plus free delivery using code 30OFF – bringing the price down to just £6.99 a bottle.

“Howzat for value?”

Fans were not bowled over by his new role, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Neil said: “Love Broad but hate it when true sports celebrities put their name and endorsement to piddly poddly brands.

“I think it belittles him and it’s not like he hasn’t got a few quid coming in already.

“It’s like seeing Jimmy Anderson endorsing a new range of Pot Noodle.”

Alan said: “Bound to be a bit ‘winy’.”

Darren joked: “Whine, more like.”

Mark added: “And what exactly does he have to do with this?”

Broad owns The Tap and Run in Upper Broughton, Notts which reopened last June after a devastating fire.

He now has a second called The Griffin Inn, 15 miles away in Swithland, Leics.

Fan Christopher claimed: “He definitely won’t be charging that price in his restaurant in Leicestershire and you definitely need a large bank account to eat at is restaurants”

Yet Alan Oakes said: “Ordered.”

His last match for England saw him take the wicket of Alex Carey to draw the Ashes series with Australia 2-2 at the Oval last July.

He also hit a six with the last ball he faced with the bat – the first player ever to achieve that double feat.
