A woman, whose own family reportedly told her “not to smile”, has revealed an incredible teeth transformation.
Growing up, Amber Murphy always struggled with the appearance of her tegs.
The now 26-year-old had “crooked, crowded and discoloured” gnashers, and claims her smile was “unconventional.”

This led to years of bullying, which eventually led Amber to take action – paying £5,800 for a new smile.
“People were not kind to me,” the retail manager, from New Hampshire, US, told What’s The Jam.
“I remember every face of every kid who ever bullied me for my teeth.
“I still remember when my own family member told me to not smile with my teeth in photos.
“Not having societal conforming teeth warped my perception of life and how I viewed people.

“As a child, I sincerely thought no one would ever love me for my smile and I was doomed forever with loneliness.
“I learned that people saw my smile before they ever saw me.”
At 23 years old, and sick of the comments, she decided to see her dentist – which she claims she rarely did as a child.

She spent £4,600 ($6,000) on getting braces, as well as £1,170 ($1,500) on extractions, cleaning, fillings and overall upkeep.
She said: “It’s never too late for someone to choose themselves.
“I wanted to take control of my life.
“The first four months were the absolute worst but after that, it was smooth sailing.
“The thing about having braces as an adult is that you’re a lot more responsible about what you eat and your hygiene.”
She had the braces on for three years and just last month, (June 2024), finally had them removed.
Amber said: “It was a long time to have pokey metal bits in my mouth.
“But it’s also 100 times easier to floss now!”
And while she still receives comments, she is so much more confident in herself.
She said: “People are still cruel, but that’s the internet for you!
“I smile so much more now and I don’t even think about ‘the before’.
“I was beautiful then and I’m beautiful now!
“It doesn’t matter how old you are, what you look like, if you’ve ever gone to the dentist, you are worthy of taking on this journey!
“Don’t let anyone discourage you from doing what you want and taking control of your desires.
“Braces changed my life for the better and it’s rather emotional thinking about it.
“From my younger days of childhood, I never smiled in photos because I was ‘ugly’.
“I want to hug my younger self.
“Be kinder to yourself and don’t listen to bullies.”
Amber plans on seeing her dentist again soon to talk about whitening, but for now, is enjoying her new smile.
