A woman claims she has been left looking “10 years older” after getting Botox in her masseter muscles.
When she noticed her face looking noticeably older, Leah Beth initially pegged it down to her being in her mid-twenties and having decreased collagen production.
She had opted to get Botox in the masseter area after clenching her jaw due to stress caused tension and pain in her face.
While she enjoyed the slimming aspect of the treatment, the 25-year-old believes the procedure has led to her having “exaggerated marionette lines”, the appearance of jowls, and under-eye wrinkles.
Within two months of getting the procedure in September, she spotted signs of apparent ageing – believing she now looks 35.

Sharing the experience on TikTok, where the post garnered 400,000 views, the Mallorca-based singer said: “My face has aged years in the past couple of months.
“The worst part about my face is my chin area, the way it looks and how it moves.
“I thought it was just me turning 25 and my collagen production going down, but it’s not that.
“Watch my smile.
“This side of my face is 25, and this side is 35.”
She then shows different angles of her face in natural lighting and shows how the left side of her face lifts better than the other.
Leah also explains that not only has the right side gone stiff, but it has even developed a new wrinkle.
“By clenching my jaw so much, I also made my masseter grow out of proportion with the rest of my face – so I wanted to relax the muscle to counteract it,” she told What’s The Jam of why she went for the procedure.
“If you place your finger on the back of your jaw, where it comes into a point underneath your ear, the meaty part there is your masseter muscle.
“The only thing that should have happened with this Botox is that muscles be relaxed and smaller.
“Instead, my risorius muscle was also affected.
“That’s further forwards in your face, and it’s the muscle that pulls your smile wide.
“Since that muscle was also relaxed, I couldn’t extend my smile, you could say it was pinned, sort of like someone was pinching my cheeks together to stop my mouth from extending back.
“This ‘pinning’ caused wrinkles and folds that I didn’t have before, and each time I tried to extend my smile back I would deepen those lines.
“All typical signs of a more mature face.”
Leah captioned the post: “Masseter Botox made me look 10 years older in just 2 months!
“I knew my face looked significantly older and I’ve just realised why.
“I know some people have fantastic results with this procedure but be so careful.”
The post has garnered over 7,000 likes, as well as hundreds of comments from users.
