A woman has vowed “no more tequila” after accidentally booking an Uber to her home in Bristol – despite being 72 miles away in Bournemouth.

Adele, 28, was spending the weekend with her husband, Jose and his family, in the coastal city and had only been there for “a few hours” on Saturday (2 March).

Having enjoyed a tequila-fuelled night out, the couple decided to call it a night and head back to the family home – but found Uber drivers continually cancelled on them.

The pair didn’t realise they had accidentally put the final destination as their address in Bristol – and ended up making the long journey home to the tune of £178.79.

With little memory of the ride home, the couple were stunned to wake up in their bed 72.3 miles away after arriving at 4.55 a.m.

“I was so shocked – I couldn’t believe it had happened,” Adele told What’s The Jam.

“We were definitely meant to stay in Bournemouth that evening – we’d only just gotten there a few hours before.

“I can’t remember the decision to book the Uber because the address was saved on my history – I must have been a little drunk.

“I didn’t actively want to go back to Bristol, I just didn’t realise I had requested that address.

“My husband said three drivers cancelled on us and now we know why!”

Despite the journey covering 72.3 miles and taking just over two hours, their memory of the night is more than a little fuzzy.

Adele said: “This is very embarrassing but I can’t remember one conversation with him [the driver].

“I can’t find where to send a message so have given the driver an excellent service rating instead.

“I want to thank him because we must have not been the best customers as I don’t remember it!”

The young couple are still in disbelief that they didn’t clock on sooner and that they had booked the wrong destination.

Adele added: “There must have been so many points that I should have stopped [the booking] – from the length of the journey to the money – but for some reason it happened.

“I’m grateful we got home safe of course but just so shocked it happened!

“I am overall just very embarrassed.

“I guess it is funny now I’ve had time to think but it is just disappointing to have worried my family when we didn’t arrive back.

“And also just so stupid of us.

“Definitely no more tequila for a while now!”
