A woman dubbed the UK’s ‘real life Rapunzel’, has revealed the secret to growing her 4ft 7ins-long hair – using something many of us will already have in the kitchen cupboard.
Bristol-born, Jasmine Larsen, hasn’t cut her hair since 2017, but it isn’t just steering clear of the scissors that keeps it at an extreme length.
The content creator shared a video on TikTok with her 40,000 followers, detailing how she creates a homemade rosemary oil scalp treatment and rosemary water spritz.

To prepare the oil, in a saucepan, Jasmine mixes coconut oil with boiling water, 3-5 rosemary sprigs, and some fresh mint leaves.
She brings the mixture to the boil, then leaves it to simmer for 5-10 minutes.
She then turns off the heat and lets the mixture sit for an hour, before straining it and putting it into a bottle.
She also mixes rosemary leaves with boiling water for a rosemary water spritz, which she applies twice a day in between hair washes.
Before a hair wash, Jasmine applies the oil to her scalp, massaging it in for optimal benefits, and leaving it to soak before shampooing.
The ‘Rapunzel’ also applies the mixture to her lengths daily, calling it the “perfect pre-wash treatment”.
She says: “Rosemary oil promotes hair growth by improving circulation to the scalp.
“Coconut oil reduces protein loss while you wash your hair.”
Jasmine says she has received more than 100 marriage proposals and has been offered £250,000 to cut her luscious locks.
But her hefty locks take a lot of maintenance – with Jasmine estimating she spends 15 hours a week on grooming herself.
She told What’s The Jam: “My pre-wash routine is one hour of oiling my scalp and lengths.
“Washing takes 40 minutes in the shower.
“For drying, I spend 30 minutes with a microfibre towel, [then] brushing it for 30 minutes, then one hour with a hairdryer.
“The rest dries in a loose hairstyle for the rest of the day – around six hours.
“In between wash days, I’m brushing, applying some oil, then wearing a basic braid – this takes 40 minutes a day, so I do this six times a week.
“[To sleep], occasionally I un-braid it, brush, apply oil and then braid again. This takes 30 minutes and I do it twice a week.”
