A Florida estate is reportedly set to break a property price world record after being put up for sale at $295m (approx £234.4m).

Nestled in a peninsula in Naples’ wealthy Port Royal neighbourhood, the estate is called Gordon Pointe and can be found in a gated compound.

It was listed on 7 February and is set to possibly become the most expensive home in the US, if it goes above the asking price.

The last home to be listed at this figure – $295m – was a 105,000 sq ft mega mansion called ‘The One’ in Bel Air, Los Angeles in 2022.

This latest property for sale appears to be even more luxurious.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the current sellers of Gordon Pointe are family members of the late John Donahue, co-founder of Federated Investors, and his wife, Rhodora.

It is said that John bought the land for just $1m, (£800,000) in 1985 and built three mansions on the compound, including an 11,500 sq ft main house, a 5,500 sq ft home and a 5,800 sq ft residence.

However, the land still has an estimated maximum development potential of 219,377 sq ft.

There’s also beach frontage with water on three sides, bay frontage and a yacht basin, as well as three pools.

And if you want to enjoy more outdoor fun, there’s a dock for approximately six boats measuring 111 ft.

The estate is a walkable distance from everything Naples has to offer, including shops, restaurants, bars and entertainment.

The property website states that the seller “is working to obtain immediate membership to the Port Royal Club” for whoever ends up buying Gordon Pointe.

They also said: “It’s well documented that Port Royal is one of the most expensive places to own property in the U.S. and Gordon Pointe is its crown jewel.

“It’s connected to all the things that make Naples special but allows the lucky owner to live like they are on their own island.”
