A feisty swan crash-landed on top of a multi-storey car park and ended up being trapped there overnight.
A security guard spotted the swan land on the roof but thought nothing of it.
But after arriving at work the next morning, he was shocked to find the young male bird still there.
The swan had got trapped in a small enclosed compound on the top floor and was unable to fly away.

They need at least 30m (98ft) run up to be able to start flying.
The RSPCA were called to the Captain Cook Square car park in Middlesbrough, to help save the swan.
Inspector Krissy Raine captured the bird before releasing him into the local River Tees.

The swan was thankfully uninjured but unfortunately very feisty for Krissy to deal with.

Inspector Raine said: “The river is close and it was very wet at the time, so I think the swan was landing thinking the top of the roof may have been a pond.
“He was young and probably finding a place to settle, but the confined space meant he wasn’t able to take off.”
“As RSPCA officers, we never know what sort of jobs we’re going to be called to.

“Being on the roof of a busy multi-storey car park to rescue a swan is definitely a more unusual one for me.
“But we’re just glad to have been able to release him unscathed.
“Our thanks go to the security guard who reported his plight to us, he said it was a first for him too.”
