Jon had taken their son Andrew, 11, out fishing on the evening of 21 March.
They were on the Arkansas River when they caught six bass, including two Kentucky bass.

While preparing the fish, the family made the unexpected find.
Footage shows Andrew carefully cleaning the tiny turtle with tissue, while pieces of the sliced fish can be seen in the background.
Rebekah said: “We were shocked to see a live baby turtle.”

The family often use fishing trips as a way to teach their children about nature and biology.
She said Jon regularly shows the children the anatomy of fish and what they have been eating.
After finding the turtle, the family carefully cleaned it and placed it in a bowl.

Rebekah added: “It was in shock, so we didn’t want to immediately let it go because it would be vulnerable.”
They later named the turtle “Jonah”, inspired by the biblical story.
Andrew, who caught the fish using his favourite lure, said he was proud of the unusual catch.
The family said they enjoy spending time outdoors together and teaching their children practical life skills.
Social media viewers were shocked by the discovery.
Kelikel said: “That’s a terrapin, a very freshly hatched one poor lil guy.”
Someone else said: “Poor baby.”
Nathan added: “Congratulations on the new pet.”
