An astonished family have miraculously been reunited with their missing cat five years after he vanished.

Kaitlin Fox was stunned to see Blue again after getting an unexpected call to say he’d been found.

The eight-year-old moggy disappeared in 2020 and Kaitlin had given up hope of ever seeing him alive.

But on Mother’s Day, the 45-year-old got the best present after vets rang saying they had found a sorry-looking Blue.

He was underweight, covered in ticks and his fur was matted.

Blue was found in a garden in Costessey, near Norwich, Norfolk, four miles away from he had lived with Kaitlin and children Cameron, 17, and Leah, 20.

He also had some cuts.

But thanks to a microchip vets were able to identify him, trace project lead Kaitlin and reunite her with her beloved pet.

“I couldn’t believe it when I got the call from the vets,” Kaitlin, who now lives near Mattishall, Norfolk, told What’s The Jam.

“I was just shocked.

“I thought the vet was ringing to tell me he’d been found but wasn’t alive.

“I thought he had either died, found another home or got lost.

“So it was a wonderful surprise to hear he was still alive.

“He was a bit worse for wear but nothing a bit of TLC won’t sort out.

“I have no idea where he’d been for five years.

“I wish he could talk to tell me.

“The vet thinks he got lost and was living rough or maybe someone took him in for a while but when he got injured sent him packing.

“But he’s now having lots of attention, cuddles and treats and is happily purring and dribbling.

“He’s been really loving and just wants to be cuddled and close.”

A spokesperson for Taverham Vets added: “It’s a Mother’s Day miracle.

“Blue came to us in a very sad state, matted fur, covered in ticks and with a nasty wound under his armpit.

“After some pain relief and parasite treatment, veterinary nurse Lydia was able to clip and clean his wounds.

“She removed the ticks, clipped his matted fur and gave him a good brush to freshen him up.

“The best part was Blue was microchipped.

“And we were able to contact his owner and after five years apart Blue was finally reunited with his human mum.”
