A family got the shock of their lives after finding a stunning electric-blue lobster lurking in a Cornish rock pool – a freak discovery experts say has odds of just one in two million.
Rock-pooler Dave Cook spotted the rare crustacean alongside another huge lobster during an extreme low tide.
But while both were impressive, the brightly coloured beast was the real showstopper.

An expert from Oxford University’s zoology department said the chance of catching a blue lobster was estimated at around one in two million.
The freakish colour is caused by a genetic abnormality which makes the lobster overproduce a certain protein.
Dave, from Teignmouth, Devon, made the incredible discovery in Falmouth, Cornwall, with his son Dougie, as reported by What’s The Jam.
He said: “It was an extremely low tide and we found two of the biggest European lobsters we’ve ever seen.
“They were both huge.

“It was a very special find.
“The important thing is we released them both.
“Lobsters that size are serious breeding stock.

“Taking them home for a meal isn’t worth damaging the local population, so they went straight back in.
“That’s proper rockpooling – look, learn, leave the big ones to keep the coastline alive.”
Last year fisherman Marc Newton caught an ultra-rare blue lobster twice in just two weeks, off Beer, East Devon.
