A mum has admitted that every single weekend she treats her dog to a roast dinner – giving her pooch the exact same meal as her human family.
In most households, the dog is as much a member of the family as anyone, so it stands to reason that they should get a special treat as everyone else.
For Sarah Foster, 42, this means cooking up a slap-up roast every Sunday and serving it to her treasured pug, Pedro.
Sarah, from Bristol, has been spoiling her pup with the weekly dinner – which boasts meat, vegetables and all the trimmings – since welcoming him to the family.

But not everyone has agreed with her giving Pedro human food, raising concerns about the salt in the dinner – something Sarah is already cautious of.
“Pedro is a pug which means he has always been a total foodie,” Sarah, a social care worker, told What’s The Jam.
“Dogs are being dumped and abandoned every day and here’s me getting negative comments for giving my dog a bit of gravy.
“It’s ridiculous really.

“Over the course of 14 meals in a week, one small splash of gravy isn’t going to do him any harm.
“I just think it’s so sad that people can be so negative about such a wholesome happy post.”
Sarah started giving her pooch the treat when she realised how much he was enjoying the leftovers of the family meal.

She said: “He started getting the scraps of roast dinners when he was about six months old, and I soon realised how much he loved the leftovers, and started to factor his portion into how much I cooked.”
This week, she shared a hilarious photo of Pedro enjoying his weekly feast on Facebook, hoping to “share a bit of light-hearted fun about dogs and dinners”.
The picture proved slightly controversial, with some viewers criticising Sarah for feeding him human food – pointing out that it can have ingredients in which may not be suitable for dogs.
Sarah said some viewers argued about the stuffing having onion in, and the gravy being too salty – though she says she didn’t include either ingredient.
Despite the criticism, she says she isn’t going to be changing Pedro’s diet any time soon.
Sarah added: “Pedro will still get a roast, he loves them.
“[On] Christmas Day, he scoffed down everything – Brussels sprouts, red cabbage the lot.
“As long as you make your own gravy and make sure there’s no onion in your stuffing, I can’t see what harm one dinner a week can cause.
“I think the vast majority of people have enjoyed the post and nearly everyone who commented also gives their dogs some sort of roast on a Sunday too – they are family after all.
“I think there will always be a small minority of people on the internet who will find things to argue or be negative about.
“Many people who commented were super jealous of Pedro’s roasts, someone even wanted to know if we were on Just Eat so they could order one for themselves!”
