This is the heartwarming moment a bear cub tangled in fishing nets is rescued and reunited with its mother.

In a video shared by a charity, a police patrol van can be seen driving onto a wet, sandy beach and pulling up next to a long fishing net where the cub is caught.

The baby bear is clearly tired, dirty and crying while desperately trying to get out of the trap, but the net is holding him tightly.

The officers tie a knife to a long stick and use it to cut into the fishing net until the cub finally wriggles free.

From the nearby shore’s edge the mum can be seen watching the entire process – the rescue team had previously moved her along as she was trying to rescue her baby but was also getting stuck in the sand and netting.

Once free, the youngster runs along the beach towards its mother.

Police officers can be heard joyfully shouting, clapping and cheering in the background, as reported by What’s The Jam.

The video, shared to the Russian charity’s Instagram, has gathered hundreds of comments from fans.
