A dozy young cygnet was left flapping after slamming straight into a bridge in a botched landing.
The hapless bird flew in at the wrong angle and smacked the stonework before splashing into a canal.
Despite the comedy crash, it escaped without a scratch.

The whole clumsy caper was caught on video by stunned onlooker Amy Turner at Leeds Liverpool Canal, Burnley, Lancs.
“Not something you see every day – the family of swans was coming in to land,” she told What’s The Jam.
“They looked so elegant sweeping in over the water.
“Well, almost elegant.
“One young cygnet overestimated its wingspan and had a bit of a bridge too far moment.

“Very glad to say it was absolutely fine.
“Parents were close by, and after a quick shake of the feathers, they all carried on as if nothing had happened.
“We cheered them on when they came back past, looking none the worse for wear.

“Though I suspect their pride might’ve taken a little dive.
“Life on the canal – never a dull moment.”
