A deep sea fisherman has shocked social media users after sharing a picture of his latest bizarre find – a creature that “looks like a Basset Hound”.
Roman Fedortsov regularly goes viral with his series of strange and otherworldly catches – and this fish is no different.
Though the creature has an eel-shaped body, its head is grossly disproportionate, with a huge face and drooping eyes – which the fisherman has likened to that of a Basset Hound dog.

Roman, who works on a trawler in Murmansk in the northwest part of Russia, shared a picture of the bizarre beast, which has garnered over 7,000 likes, reports What’s The Jam.
He captioned the post: “He reminds me of a Basset Hound.”
One person commented: “Wow. Insane.”
“Whaaaaaaaat?” another shocked viewer wrote.
Someone else added: “I think this is a white ‘Darth Vader’!!”

“Just like my ex,” joked another user.
Someone else compared it to the alien from the 2012 movie Prometheus, while another insisted it was a dog.
Another user wrote: “Why’s it looking at me like that?”

“Also the first thought is what a tired pug,” someone else added.
While the creature is unique, it’s appearance may well have altered due to pressure changes from originating in deep waters.
Recently, Roman made headlines after sharing footage of an alien-esque creature.
Sporting a large, bulbous body, shrunken eyes and gaping mouth, you’d be forgiven for mistaking the fish for something from another planet – which many followers did.
