A dad was left stunned after a shark appeared where he was swimming with his daughters just seconds after they left the water.
Osca Rico spotted a dorsal fin gliding through the waves no more than three minutes after he clambered out of the sea with his young children.
The family was relaxing on the beach when the predator was sighted.

“We decided to go to the beach to relax for a little bit,” Rico told What’s The Jam.

“Three minutes after my daughters and I left the water, in that exact same spot we saw this.
“Definitely someone is looking after us.”
It happened off South Padre Island off the southern tip of Texas, US.
Rico shared a clip which showed the shark’s dorsal fin gliding through the water on 29 March.

In July 2024, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department issued a statement following a series of shark encounters on South Padre Island.
A spokesperson said: “Shark encounters of this nature are not a common occurrence in Texas.
“When bites from sharks do occur, they are usually a case of mistaken identity by sharks looking for food.
“If a swimmer spots a shark they should calmly exit the water and wait for the shark to pass.”
Hours before the shark encounter, Rico and his family were trapped in a flash flood that saw over half a year’s worth of rainfall over two days.
The flood destroyed numerous properties and vehicles and left at least four people dead.
