A female singer who spent years attempting to remove her facial hair says she has finally accepted her beard and has “no reason to hide”.
Luta Cruz, who regularly shares photos and videos to her 30,000 social media followers, was born with a condition that causes her to grow a beard.
Throughout her childhood and adolescence, she tried everything from wax to laser hair removal, but nothing ever kept it at bay for good.

And then, during the Covid pandemic, the singer’s opinions began to change, as reported by What’s The Jam.
In a clip which Luta shared on TikTok, she can be heard saying: “Bearded women – we have no reason to hide.
“We have no reason to be ashamed of who we are, of having beards, of having body hair, of being beautiful women, of being unique.
“We have made history.
“Although we are known for having worked in circuses in previous years, today, in this year 2024, no my love, we are not.

“You can make all my videos viral. I appreciate it.
“A kiss for all the haters who upload to my page, and who make my work and my music visible.”
It was during the pandemic that Luta realised that nobody would see her.

She stayed home and decided to stop shaving her face.
Almost five years on from her decision to embrace her hair, she says finally feels comfortable.
And her videos attract hundreds of thousands – sometimes millions – of views.
But things haven’t always been easy for the Afro-Chilean singer.
Her career in music began at an early age, but she always hid her hair as it made her feel deeply embarrassed.
Even those that were close to her would ask her to keep it hidden.
Her mother once took her over to a neighbour’s where they removed the hair using wax.
Luta says this is a difficult memory but she knows her mother was just trying to protect her.
Luta also found it affected her romantic relationships, as she would never let her boyfriends touch her face.
Now her positivity attracts a mixture of comments from fans.
Brisa wrote: “A great woman… You’re beautiful.”
Someone else said: “I respect but I don’t understand.”
“It’s not normal, but it’s great that you don’t fight against the nature of your body, great,” added another viewer.
Daniela penned: “Uff it’s everyone’s decision I don’t like women’s or men’s hair, especially in the armpits, but everyone’s thinking is respected.”
“Pure admiration, Luta. Greetings from Ecuador,” wrote Clara.
