A couple who met at the infamous Christmas pub crawl, dubbed SantaCon, have announced their engagement.
It’s a story that could be straight out of a festive romcom, but for Rosalie Gandarillas and Mike Krall, a boozy event where they were both clad in “ugly” jumpers proved to be a fateful meeting.
Rosalie approached Mike to compliment him on his choice of jumper – which featured trainers and dumbbells – and the rest was history.

Four years on, the Christmas fanatics, both 26 and teachers, are engaged.
“It’s like we were soul mates and meant to meet that day,” Rosalie, who lives in Queens, New York, told What’s The Jam.

“We both went to SantaCon just to have a good time with our friends and family – we were both freshly 21 and wanted to party.
“We were walking past each other during Santacon, and I just complimented his ugly sweater, and next thing I knew, we were talking for a while.
“We had so much in common – we are both one of five kids, both the second oldest, and both have birthdays in August.

“It was weird how much we had in common.
“He asked to kiss me like a gentleman, and my sisters actually have on video our first kiss.
“He asked for my number, and my phone was dead, but we went our separate ways after that.

“I didn’t know if he was going to text me, but he did right away.”

From there, the loved-up couple spoke every single day but lived far apart at the time, so it took 10 months until they could have their first date.
Rosalie said: “Since our first date, we have become inseparable.
“We never went a day without talking since the day we met, and one month after our date, he asked me to be his girlfriend.
“We’ve changed our lives to be together, changing our careers and where we live.”
And this summer, they made things official when Mike proposed in August, which Rosalie describes as “the most magical day ever”.
The pair are set to tie the knot next year, and are looking forward to celebrating this festive season with their loved ones.
Rosalie added: “We are both huge Christmas fans!
“Christmas Eve is a huge celebration in our families.
“It’s our favourite time of the year.”
