A full-time ‘dumpster diver’ has gone viral on TikTok after finding – and rescuing – a huge haul of fresh food just moments before bin men came to dispose of it.
Tiffany Butler fishes perfectly usable products and produce out of bins every day, and estimates she has made over $80,000 in two years from reselling things like makeup and electrical goods.
The 34-year-old’s recent find garnered 6.2m views on TikTok, where she showed the enormous amount of perishable items set to rot.

In the clip, she approaches the huge bins, and says the items are still cold – having recently been disposed of in what she believes to have been a fridge malfunction.
With no items expired, the goods appear perfectly safe to eat – and include cheese, yoghurts, eggs, juices, salad, and even steaks.
Tiffany, from Denton, Texas, US, shared the loot she took home with her, managing to nab it just moments before the local bin men came to take it away.
She says: “Literally as we were loading the car, the dumpster guy pulled up to take all the food.
“But we got a ton.

“I didn’t really have much time to dig, but found some sausage, and freaking steaks, a ton of juices and coffee concentrates – all kinds of drinks.”
The post racked up more than 274,000 likes, with one user commenting: “I will NEVER understand this. EVER!”

“Wow! Why not give it to a shelter? But hope you got use of most of it,” said another viewer.

Someone else wrote: “These stores need to call food pantries or shelters and feed our hungry! Shame on them!”
“Bro that’s a whole year worth of food for free,” another user pointed out.

Someone else added: “I would be cautious because it might be cold now but maybe they had a power outage earlier that might have made the food an unsafe temp.”
Tiffany later clarified: “The fridge section went out for a few minutes, and they immediately tossed everything.
“Everything was perfectly fine; they just had to remove it.”
The mum previously told What’s The Jam of her dumpster diving: “You never know when stores are going to toss stuff – it’s really just all about luck.”

She estimates she made around $80,000 (£62,000) in two years of dumpster diving and then re-selling her finds.
The mum said she finds all manner of things on her hunts.
She added: “If you can name it, I’ve probably found it.”
